Roger Caplinger, 49, enters his fifth season as the Director of Medical Operations, following 10 years as the head athletic trainer. Caplinger previously spent four seasons as the Assistant Athletic Trainer following eight years in the Brewers farm system. After earning an undergraduate degree in physical education/athletic training from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colo., Caplinger joined Milwaukee’s Rookie league team in Peoria, Ariz., in 1990. The Wheat Ridge, Colo. native worked his way up through the Brewers’ athletic training ranks, working with affiliates in Helena, Mont., in 1991 and 1993, and Chandler, Ariz., in 1994. From 1995 through 1999, Caplinger served as coordinator of Minor League athletic training, strength and conditioning. Caplinger is coordinator of athletic training for Major League Baseball’s Arizona Fall League from 1996 through 2007 and was recognized along with head athletic trainer John Adam with the 2001 “MLB Athletic Training Staff of the Year Award and in 2005 received the Dick Martin Award by Baseball Prospectus”. The Brewers organization was awarded the 2014 Martin-Monaghan Award as the Best Medical Staff in Major League Baseball by Rotowire.He was honored to serve as the National League athletic trainer for the 2002 Major League All- Star game. He also served on the PBATS Executive Board as the National League Athletic Trainer representative. He also serves as the chairman of the PBATS EMR Committee. Caplinger is a certified member of the NATA and is a member of the AzATA, WATA and is a licensed athletic trainer in Arizona and Wisconsin. A golf and racing enthusiast, Caplinger resides in Menomonee Falls, WI with wife Jackie and has children Kyle, Gabi, Brett and Ryan.
