BEFORE FAME

J. A. was a four year letter winner in baseball and basketball St. Bede High School in Chicago, IL. He earned team MVP in his senior season and was named Bureau County Athlete of the Year. J. A. attended Northwestern University for three seasons and became the first Wildcat in history to be named All-Big-Ten in three straight seasons. He led the Big-Ten in earned run average (2.68) and strikeouts (106) in his senior season.

FUN FACT

J. A. averaged 22 points in his senior year in basketball at St. Bede High School (Chicago, IL) and is the school’s all-time leading scorer.
