In his junior and senior years at Westlake (California) High School, Christian batted .489 and .451 respectively.
Christian is recognized as one of the game’s premiere defensive outfielders and an outstanding hitter. In 2017, he batted .282 with 18 home runs, 81 RBI and 16 stolen bases in a career-high 156 games with the Miami Marlins. He set career highs in runs (100) and walks (80) and was among the National League leaders in runs (T7th, 100), at-bats (8th, 602), hits (9th, 170), doubles (9th, 36) and walks (10th, 80). In his first season as a full-time center fielder in ’17, Christian led the Majors from that position in fielding percentage (.997) while ranking second in starts (155) and fourth in total chances(372). He committed just one error all season. Christian was acquired by the Milwaukee Brewers on January 25, 2018 in exchange for four minor-league players. In 2014, he earned his first career Rawlings Gold Glove award after leading the Majors in fielding percentage as a left fielder (.996), committing just one error in 262 total chances. He was the first outfielder in Marlins history to win a Gold Glove award. Entering the 2018 season, Christian is a .290 career hitter and batted .300 (143-for-476) in 2015.
Christian was named the Marlins’ recipient of the Heart & Hustle Award by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association in 2014, awarded to active players who demonstrate passion for the game and embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game.
